New Visitors to Room 14

Dear Room 14,

We have some new visitors to Room 14 this week, including two tiny frogs and one tadpole. Most of the time they just sit still on the rocks doing nothing (or thinking?) and may move a little bit once or twice a day.

The frogs and tadpole will be with us for 4 days only and they will go back to Room 30 next week. Please make sure you take some time to look at them and find out more about them.

Happy learning!

Lily

Endangered species

Dear Room 17,

What a wonderful oral language session we had this morning! We have talked about the whaling issue, the shark issue, the seal issue and the new 'sunflower fish'! (Can someone find me a picture of that fish please!) Of course we have also talked about the party pills and why we shold not touch it.

This time I would like to ask you to comment on the following questions:
(1) Your personal point of view on the current endangered species issues;
(2) Provide evidence to back up your point(s);
(3) What do you think we can do to help here in New Zealand?

Have a look at the following web sites which can help you organise your ideas:
* WWF (http://www.worldwildlife.org/endangered/)
* SPCA (http://www.spca.org.nz/general/home.htm)
* Endangered Species (http://www.endangeredspecie.com/)
* Kids' Planet (http://www.kidsplanet.org/factsheets/map.html)
* Auckland Zoo (http://www.aucklandzoo.co.nz/)
* Wellington Zoo (http://www.wellingtonzoo.com/index.html)

I am looking forward to seeing your sensible and constructive comments! (^-^)
