Welcome Back!

Dear Room 17,

Welcome back to Term 4 and I hope you all had a fantastic holiday!

This term we are having a very interesting topic for our Rich Task: Do All Children Play? You will find a poll on the right hand side of this web page and have a discussion with your family before you make your decision.

Te Reo Kori - Fun!

Dear Room 17,

I hope you all had a lovely weekend, although the weather was not too pleasant at all!

I wonder how many of you remember the games and the Poi dance you did last Friday? Here are some photos to refresh your memory! By the way, I think we should do the Poi dance at the school assembly.

Olympics!

Dear Room 17,

The Olympic games had begun! Which sport have you kept your eyes on? I have heard that most of the girls were amazed by the accuracy and perfection of the Synchro-Springboard. How about you boys?

Here I have found some photos taken at a 'Potato Olympics'. Take a look and leave me some positive and constructive comments: http://picasaweb.google.com/mrrobashcroft/PotatoOlympics/photo#5233056981672440482

World Environment Day - Show The Way Today

Dear Room 17,

Today is the World Environment Day and this year's host country is us, one of the first countries to work towards carbon neutrality. Since 1972, June 5 has been marked World Environment Day and celebrates environmental awareness worldwide.

2008's slogan "Kick the Habit! Toward a Low Carbon Ecomony" focuses on climate change and aims to provide resources to help everyone in the world lower/minimise their carbon footprint.

Now try and write a Haiku poem to express your ideas and thoughts on World Environment Day!

* How to write a Haiku poem?
Traditional Japanese haiku have seventeen syllables divided into three lines of five syllables, seven syllables, and five syllables respectively. These syllable counts are often ignored when haiku are written in other languages, but the basic form of three short lines, with the middle line slightly longer than the other two, is usually observed.

Here are photos showing how we celebrated it at school:

Goodbye Shyan and Robin

Dear Room 17,
It was a pity that we had to farewell two of our classmates this week. Actually we didn't get to say goodbye to Robin. Hopefully he will check our blog and wirte to us.

Think and reflect on the good time we had together with Shyan and Robin and feel free to leave some messages for them.

"Heaving Heart"

Dear Room 17,

First of all, I want to say that we were so lucky to have Nigel and Erica to share their expertise, knowledge and resources with us this afternoon with those 'fascinating' sheep hearts and other medical equipments! Again, A BIG thank-you to both Nigel and Erica!

Here are some photos of what we have done! Please leave comments to show how much fun you had! q(^0^)p
