Finders Keepers

Dear Room 14,

We have started our Rich Task 'Keepers Finders' by identifying and categorising good explorer characterristics, discussing and researching a variety of New Zealand taonga around us here in New Zealand. For example, the Kiwi birds, pohutukawa trees and the pounamu!

Some of you have done a great job with your research and speech on famous explorers and I was very pround of you all.

We have also read this thought-proviking article from the school journal called "Finders Keepers". I was very happy to see how most of you actively engaged in the discussions with each other and the ability to justify your choice. It was interesting to hear some of your reasons/arguments and being able to explain your decision.

A BIG thank-you to Trish R and Catherine for joining us for our P4C session on Wednesday afternoon, too!

Guess what, in a few weeks time we are going to the Arataki Visitor Centre Waitakekre for our Rich Task field trip and please take a look at their web site for some more information: Arataki Visitor Centre
I would like to invite you all who have access to this blog to post your thoughts and ideas regarding New Zealand treasure - what is it? How do you identify what a NZ treasure is? How should we keep our treasure?

I am looking forward to seeing you here soon! q(^o^)p
