The Time Has Come!

Dear Room 17,

Wow, time flies by and there is only 1 week left to the end of this term! I can't believe that we have been working together almost a year! We have been investigating our family history and origin in term 1; we have created different sustainability plans for our school rocky garden in term 2; we again looked at our lives on a personal level in term 3 and now in term 4 we are discussing and debating issues relating to justice. Which did you enjoy the most?

It is time to say goodbye. I hope you have learned heaps this year and you are ready for 2010. I will miss you all and do come and visit me in my new classroom next year.

Post me a message now to tell me about your thoughts and feelings of being a member of Room 17 this year and perhaps your expectation of 2010 as well.

Here I have attached some photos of our Story-Making performace. Enjoy! :)

Citizenship

Dear Room 17 and parents/caregiver,

Welcome back to Term 4! Hope you all had a wonderful holiday!

This term for our Rich Task we are talking about 'citisenship' and 'justice and injustice'. Can you answer the following questions:

* What does 'citisenship' mean to you?
* What is a good citizen? What are the characteristics?
* What are the rights or responsibilites of being a citizen, for example, at school?
* How to become an active citizen in your community?

You may like to have a chat with your family or friends and feel free to post your thoughts and ideas to exchange with others. See you in class!

Room 17's Fun Day!

Dear Room 17,

Yeah! We did it! We have done the noodles, muffins and popcorn! They were so delicious!

I had fun just watching you all busy sorting different duties out and making the food of your choice. The noodles were very tasty with extra vegetable-mix (healthy food) and cocktail sausages; the popcorns were made with a range of different flavours like chocolate; and the choco-chip banana muffins were amazingly done even without the baking soda!

I am sure you all remember that this interesting cooking activity was relating to our procedural writing and don't forget the importance of the steps and sequence, the ingredients, the equipments/utensils, etc.

Wait! There's more! We have also done some skipping for JRFH - Jump Rope For Heart. We have tried individual skipping, pair skipping, double-dutch skipping with long ropes etc. Wow that was so much fun!

Maths Day

Dear Room 17,

First of all, welcome back to Term 3! It was great to see you all, especially those who have big smiles!

It was our Maths Day today and we had experienced a vareity of activities in class. For example, 'Ordinary Origami' for our Geometry skills, 'Fantastic Fraction' with our fraction and number knowledge, etc.

As a teacher, I had fun just watching you guys working with each other and trying activities again and again! I hope you all have a good time as well. q(^o^)p

I would like to invite everyone from Room 17 to post your thoughts about our Maths Day and tell me about your favourite activity and why.
