Turangawaewae for Term 2

Dear Room 14,

We have started our Term 2 quickly with trips to the Art Gallery, Central City Library and Albert Park for our Rich Task focus Turangawaewae. Some of you did beautiful artwork with signs and symbols. The artwork that displayed at the gallery were brilliant and amazing. We have learnt so much from the educators. Soon we will be on the road again for our visit to Eden Park!

In class we have discussed about our own identity (with mini T-shirt design), where we belong, different ways to greet and welcome people we don't know or new to New Zealand. We also talked about important things for travellers such as transportation, accommodation, communication, including currency and medication.

I really enjoy our Rich Task because it is so RICH and there are so much we can do! I hope you are enjoying our Rich Task as much as I do! Let me know what you think!

Lily

Yesterday the whetu syndicate went to Eden Park and my favourite part was when we went in the changing room and just before we were about to go we got to go and sit in the east stand and we could ask qestions and one of the qestions were how much did the stadium cost? The answer is half a billion dollers.(500.000.00)

Yesterday the year threes and fours walked to Eden Park. A lady, and three men came to greet us. Lily gave us a sticker that said :visitor of Eden Park Balmoral School.I liked it.The lady took our class. Her name was Kylie. She took us on a tour through Eden Park. She took us to the Allblacks and Blues changing rooms and then she took us to the place where the rugby players take a shower. Some people could call me an Australian because I was born in Australia. But to me I have always been a New Zealander. I left Melborne when I was 11 months old, so I cant remember anything about Australia of course! I feel like I belong in New Zealand because I have lots of family living here. My great great grandfathers fought for New Zealand in the war. They wanted to protect their country because it was special to them. It makes me feel proud of them and it helps me feel like I belong in New Zealand. By Phoebe - Rich Task homework #2
