What a wonderful oral language session we had this morning! We have talked about the whaling issue, the shark issue, the seal issue and the new 'sunflower fish'! (Can someone find me a picture of that fish please!) Of course we have also talked about the party pills and why we shold not touch it.
This time I would like to ask you to comment on the following questions:
(1) Your personal point of view on the current endangered species issues;
(2) Provide evidence to back up your point(s);
(3) What do you think we can do to help here in New Zealand?

Wow, it sounds like you had a very interesting discussion this week.
I have always be concerned about the killing of whales, and even as a young teenager, I was involved with sea creature conservation.
As some of you may know the ecological system of the world needs support, to stop humans interfering with it too much (well more than we have already).
Humans have already made a huge impact on nature, and as discussed in Room 29, it seems that as 'industry increases, nature decreases'. We need to learn from our mistakes, and stop killing off creatures. Look at all the animals of the world that no longer exist, and sadly we have to take responsibility for this.
They say "History never repeats", well we better do something to make sure this is true.

and i think it is soo mean to hunt seals, whales and sharks. Whales are endangered and should be left to die of natural cause. I tink it is soo cruel to just take the sharks fins, then chuck the rest of the shark back into the water to die!! Sealhunters get about 78 US dollars for every seal they kill that is including Babies. a average of seals killed per year is about 300,000. I think it is ok for each sealer to maybe kill at lmost 50 seals a year . But each sealer probaly takes about 200 hundred.
Something needs to be done.

I am against the killing of whales seals and shraks.I think it is one of the cruelest things in the world. I think it is mean and selfish to cut off a sharks finn and chuck it back in the sea to die. I also think it is cruel to kill seals. I think that since in canda they r preparing for the big seal hunt. I think canda will be punished for it. WE need to start thinking about the animals and when we do things how it effects them!

I agree with rebeccah it is mean to hunt whale, dophins etc. Also there's only 111 mai whale left. i think is the human's folt plus me, because we did all the pilluting in the air. and we through tashs in the pisific oncean. we're ditroying nature!
